The Niger Delta Avengers has confirmed the suspension of its official twitter account saying they breached the social network’s policy.
In a statement on their website, the group said all other accounts which claim to represent them are being run by imposters.
The group has called on the general public to disregard information published by any other account because they are run by government agents who are against their struggle.
The group which has been seeking autonomy for the Niger Delta has resorted to blowing up oil facilities in an effort to make their voices heard and their message understood.
The group has been requesting compensation for damages by oil producers and more development in oil producing areas.
70 percent of Nigeria’s income comes from oil and the attack by the Niger Delta Avengers is a serious challenge for president Muhammadu Buhari who is battling with a global fall in oil prices with catastrophic consequences on Nigeria’s economy.
